About this view

Seongsan Ilchulbong is a tuff cone on Jeju's eastern tip, formed by a volcanic eruption in shallow water and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The crater rim rises about 180 metres straight out of the sea, and the walk to the top takes twenty to thirty minutes. Its name means sunrise peak, and it is the island's most popular place to watch the sun come up.

Sunrise is the point here. Jeju sunrise runs roughly 05:15 in summer to 07:40 in winter.
